Extortionist is a dynamic American metal band formed in Spirit Lake / Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 2013. They fuse deathcore, metalcore, and beatdown hardcore, producing a gritty and emotionally intense sound. Their music is characterized by downtuned guitars, brutal growls, and their signature snare sounds created using unconventional techniques — for instance, slamming a metal beer keg with a baseball bat
